Artists

Marilyn Dirrig

Marilyn Dirrig, is a songwriter who was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She’s been writing and playing in the Akron area for over 50 years. She counts John Prine as one of the earliest and most enduring influences on her songwriting and life since first hearing him in the 1970’s. Long live his memory and his songs!

Zach Hamlin

Singer/songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player. Lead vocalist for the band, Folk Paper Scissors but also plays quite a few solo shows. Plays Folk, Country, Rock, R&B, and Soul. Attended first John Prine concert in utero.

Greg Adams

Kansas native, born into a large musical family. Started guitar at an early age. Some professional background playing folk, classic country, and bluegrass. Much of my influence comes from the likes of Prine, Guy Clark etc. I enjoy opportunities to create “musical” memories and my journey has provided me with many smiles.

Adam Brown

Singer songwriter with songs that try to capture the spirit of John Prine. Proud father of 3 great kids. Hit .300 in 40+ men’s baseball league.

Michael Sean McDonald

Cleveland songwriter Michael Sean McDonald’s music is filled with toe-tapping blues and heartfelt ballads that cover the full spectrum of the human experience. His lyrics aren’t topical in the traditional sense, but the characters and situations he sings about articulate human nature from a deeply personal perspective that is at once emotionally evocative and compellingly philosophical. Michael’s performances leave audiences asking for more.

Matt Harmon

Cleveland-based singer/songwriter and acoustic guitar instructor. Matt is currently writing and performing as half of the folk duo, Sunporch.

Hunter Skeens

Stark County native Hunter Skeens is a super talented musician who plays a revved up version of bluegrass with Hunter Skeens And The Forerunners. He’s a gifted guitar player, a talented singer, and an all around good guy!

Mike Gregory

I started playing in the ’90’s while skipping classes at the University of Akron. After spending 10 years on the road as a truck driver, I decided to pick it back up again and see what happens. So far, so good. I’m currently playing in an acoustic outfit aptly named “THEM BUZZARDS.”

Landon Kearns

Local musician trying to do good things in the community. I have hosted open mics, produced many tribute shows, and founded the band Rye Valley with singer/songsmith Brett Auerbach.

Kevin Brosien

Kevin G. Brosein has been performing solo and in various bands for a while. He enjoys fast women, slow cars and broken down guitars. His career as a minnow fisherman was cut short in the ’90s by the halibut mafia. You may have seen him in Eskimo Tailor, during a brief stint as a Misery Jackal or in Rye Valley. He likes dogs.

Lee McCord

Texas born singer/songwriter. Began playing after receiving an electric bass for Christmas at age 14. “Sometimes music feels like a curse, but it’s really a blessing.” Currently playing gigs in the Greater Akron area.

Mike Lenz

Mike Lenz is a singer/guitarist based in Akron Ohio.

Ben Gage

Ben Gage is a songwriter from Akron, Ohio, shaped by the rust belt’s grit and the open countryside along the Great Lakes. His roots run deep in Midwest’s working-class spirit—where tenacity, family, and a hard day’s work aren’t just values but a way of life. That same spirit runs through his music. He doesn’t sugarcoat life’s ups and downs, but he doesn’t hammer you over the head with ideas either—he just tells it like it is, weaving raw human experience into every song.

Ralph Obert

I took a 30 year break from music when I had to pretend to be an adult with all those adult responsibilities and at the same time I achieved 6rh degree black belt in karate with my kids practicing with me. Then I jumped back into music with playing and singing. Most of all started running many music events and open mics… with the emphasis of bringing the local music community together….. And I love Tim’s drum solos…💕

Ed Bridge

Ed Bridge .. Singer-songwriter, piano and guitar. Being part of the local music community has been enjoyable beyond description, and an important part of my life.

Tim Ellinger

Drummer. In local music seen for over 15 years. Currently playing with the Chrissy Strong band. Rye Valley. Jackson Boiling. Hates drum solos lol

Wylie Green

Singer-Songwriter, engineer and bass player for multiple local bands. Enjoys working with and supporting the local music community. Wylie has released music under multiple projects and is always looking for new collaborations.

Bev Hutchens

Singer Songwriter and host of writers group honoring not for profit fundraising events.
Music keeps me sane.

Tyler (Ray) Lobdell

Semi professional musician of 21 years experience. Starting pedal steel in 2020 unlocked a recording and touring career that has been from LA to Nashville and back to Cleveland. Tyler takes pride in doing his musical work well and appropriately for all arrangements.

HUMANE SOCIETY OF SUMMIT COUNTY

Mission
Humane Society of Summit County serves our community by caring and advocating for vulnerable animals and enriching the lives of pets and people.

Vision
A more compassionate and humane community for animals.
The Humane Society of Summit County is a no-time-limit shelter meaning we do not ever euthanize for time or space. As long as the animal is medically and behaviorally healthy, it remains with us as long as it takes to be adopted. We partner with other animal welfare organizations and specialized rescues to help find loving homes for animals when appropriate.

VANTAGE AGING

Since 1975, VANTAGE Aging has promoted successful aging by providing programs to support the needs of older adults wishing to age in place and live independently with dignity. Offering state-wide assistance to low-income adults seeking job training employment, our Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) updates job skills for people 55 and older and places them in part-time employment. Retired and senior adults wishing to give back to the community can remain active with RSVP.

Health and wellness are important to the success of aging in place, and our Home Wellness Solutions and Meals on Wheels programs build on that concept by helping homebound and disabled people remain at home by providing home-delivered meals, wellness checks, and assistance with personal and household needs.
